Dr. Audrey Parrish is an assistant professor of psychology at The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. She received her undergraduate degree in biology from Winthrop University. She received her master’s and PhD in psychology (cognitive sciences) from Georgia State University, where she conducted research at the Language Research Center with non-human primates and children.
Dr. Parrish has a special interest in cognition and behavior from a comparative and developmental perspective. Her work focuses on how non-human primates and human children perceive, interact with, and make decisions in their everyday lives, and how their cognitive processes are shaped by their unique evolutionary histories and experiences. Her work with children, great apes, and monkeys has resulted in numerous scientific publications as well as opportunities to speak at multiple professional conferences. Dr. Parrish enjoys teaching topics in cognitive psychology as well as research methodology and statistics to undergraduate and graduate students. In her free time, she can be found spending time with her husband Gio and their dog Figgy.
